After extensive consultation with our parents, students and teachers, Casula High School will be making a change to our bell times and daily timetable structure starting in Term 1 2024.
This change has been made to see improvements in multiple areas including decreased lateness due to late buses, increasing class time by decreasing transition time and increased positive behaviour due to less crowded break times.
Due to this consultation the following changes are being made from Term 1 2024.
· The first bell will now ring at 8:45am for students to be in roll call by 8:50am.
· Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will include a roll call followed by period 1 and 2, recess, period 3 and 4, lunch and finally period 5.
· Tuesday will begin with roll call/ assembly time followed by period 1 and 2, recess and then period 3 and 4. Students will have permission to leave school at the end of period 4 but can choose to study under supervision in the library from 2:10-3pm.
· Lessons will now be 60 minutes in length.
· Year 11 and 12 students will have flexible study time in order to complete assessments, homework and prepare for examinations. This flexible study time can be completed at home or in the library.
The new bell times are attached to this letter. As a school community we are excited for this change and opportunity to improve the time spent learning for all of our students.
If you have any questions, please forward them to casula-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au with the subject line reading ‘New bell times’.
Thank you for your continued support of your children and our school.
